Winemaking at a higher level

Just about an hour from Sacramento or South Lake Tahoe and a little over two hours from Reno or the San Francisco area, El Dorado’s family-owned wineries beckon visitors with a wide diversity of award winning wines, friendly tasting room staffs and idyllic views of snow-capped mountains and oak-studded foothills.

Our wineries are renown for making vibrantly flavorful, distinctly delicious wines, grown in the dramatic elevations of the Sierra Nevada.

Wine lovers and vineyard viewers can enjoy a colorful harvest experience by visiting El Dorado's wineries this fall.

A New Vintage Comes off the Vines

Vines spread among the Sierra foothills are yielding plump grapes with a "wonderful intensity of flavors and vibrant colors," according to more than one vineyard manager. Crush began in September, offering the promise of another winning vintage.

On crush pads and cellars, our winemakers are nurturing delicously fermenting juices, bringing out the finest sensory nuances of dozens of grape varieties.

Fall is a beautiful time of year to visit El Dorado's wine country. Weather is great and tasting rooms are uncrowded, giving you even more opportunities to talk with our winemaking families.

Make the scenic drive to our wineries and enjoy the harvest experience for yourself. Harvest is expected to continue through October in some parts of the county.
